This is a limited edition item, with only three pieces in stock. These one of a kind pieces are created by combining two traditional Japanese dyeing techniques: wax-resist dyeing, roketsuzome, and indigo dyeing, aizome. Wax is applied by hand with a brush to create a dynamic horizontal patterns to the left half of the shirt and collar, while the right half is dyed a solid indigo. This contrast in blue hues is reminiscent of a rainy day, as the rain patters down against the roof and some droplets leak through, hence its name amemori, or roof leak. While wax-resist dyeing is a labour-intensive process, it yields unique, art-like designs that cannot be replicated by other dyeing methods or standard printing. The shirt's silhouette features generously cut, roomy sleeves, that allow it to serve as a stylish accent piece, whether worn over a T-shirt or on its own. It also pairs perfectly with a wide variety of trousers. Crafted from high-density broadcloth, the fabric offers a subtle sheen, but is also lightweight enough to be worn from spring through autumn comfortably. Each piece is one of a kind, meticulously hand-dyed in our studio.
