CONCEPT
We elevate traditional Japanese dyeing techniques into contemporary art. Each piece is handicrafted; a representation of an end to mass consumerism; "a wearable work of art."
JAPANESE INDIGO DYE This distinct blue is created by submerging each piece into the indigo dye bath repeatedly. This repeated process of dyeing and oxidation results in the deep, distinctive and complex indigo blue.
ROUKETSUZOME (JAPANESE BATIK) Rouketsuzome, Japanese batik, is a form of wax resist dyeing. Melted wax is applied onto the clothes in modern motifs to create a dye resist, that when dyed and washed, leave behind a contrasting pattern.
TIE DYE We combine modern tie-dyeing with Japanese traditional dye techniques. These include bleaching, black ink dyeing, applying the dye over the tied garments, or a combination of these.
